Richard E. Mahmarian is
the Managing Member/CEO of REM Associates, LLC a private investment and
consulting service�s company. The company currently has several
investments in high technology companies as part of its diversified
portfolio. He is also currently President/CEO of Control Solutions,
Inc., which is a $25.million software solutions provider to the factory
automation, manufacturing and warehouse management industries. Besides
his operational responsibilities, he is assisting in the development and
implementation of their long-term strategic plan.
He was previously Chairman
of the Board of FieldConnect, Inc., which was a spin off from Alpha
Microsystems, LLC, where he was the Chairman of the Board and CEO. The
FieldConnect software was originally developed by Alpha Microsystems,
LLC, for its own internal use. It is now being sold as a wireless
software system for the internet using hand held terminals or computers.
The company was sold in October, 2002 to an independent investor.
Mr. Mahmarian acquired
Alpha Microsystems, LLC, in 1997 and it was a $25 million sales company
manufacturing small (mini) computer systems, installing software
networks, and providing IT services in the US and Canada through its 55
service locations. Prior to acquiring Alpha Microsystems (Nasdaq traded)
in a leverage buyout, Mr. Mahmarian served on its board as a director
for three years. In 2001, Mr. Mahmarian sold the hardware and software,
and its service businesses to two different companies. The FieldConnect
division was then established as a separate company to pursue the sale
of its wireless software.
Prior to Alpha
Microsystems he was Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief
Executive Officer of Verification Systems International, Incorporated,
which designs, engineers and manufactures bar code and two-dimensional
symbology quality assurance instruments, from 1996-1998. In 1998 the
company was sold to Printronix, Inc a large multi-national printer
company.
Prior to its sale in 1996,
Mr. Mahmarian was Vice Chairman of the Board and Executive Vice
President/COO of RJS, Inc., a manufacturer of bar code printers,
verification scanners, software, and consumable products. Mr. Mahmarian
had been a principal of RJS, Inc. since 1985, when it was purchased in a
leveraged buyout.
Prior to joining RJS,
Inc., he held various executive management positions for Bell & Howell
Company, Northrop Corporation and NCR Corporation.
Mr. Mahmarian has
extensive operational and management experience in starting or buying
and building successful small to medium size companies through
acquisitions and internal growth.
Mr. Mahmarian is currently
serving on and has previously served on several (public and private)
corporate boards. He currently is a member of several public, private
and non-profit boards including the Board of Regents of Seton Hall
University (NJ) and the board of the Salvation Army�s Crestmont College
Mr. Mahmarian has a BA
Degree in Accounting and Business Administration from Upsala College and
a MBA from Seton Hall University in Economics and Marketing.
Mr. Mahmarian received an
honorable discharge from the US Navy, where served for three years as a
radar electronics technician.
