Striving to address this issue, the Food Bank of New York City procures and distributes millions of pounds of food annually through a network of more than 1,100 food assistance programs citywide. The hub of the operation is the Food Bank's 100,000 square foot warehouse in the Bronx. To manage the warehouse activity and support the Food Bank's expected growth, Control Solutions installed its OpenWMS system. According to Dan Wilkerson, Control Solutions' vice president of engineering, "The OpenWMS installation has been critical to supporting the Food Bank's rapid growth over the past few years. We have continued to modify the system with business logic changes and other enhancements as required by the Food Bank. Most recently, we assisted them in upgrading their server to support their anticipated growth needs based on the current economic conditions." The ongoing relationship between the team at Control Solutions and the Food Bank of New York City is typical of the long term and mutually beneficial partnerships that Control Solutions seeks with its customers.
