Calculating Ribbon to Labels

Example: Sato CL408 Printer using 4 x 6 labels.

Note: You must know the length of ribbon needed for the printer line In this case, the ribbon length is 1345 feet.

1. Multiply the number of feet in each ribbon by 12 to determine inches per roll.

Ex:
1,345'
x
12"

______________

= 16,140 inches

2. Divide this number (16, 140) by the length of the label plus the label gap (6" + .125)

Ex:
16,140 (Number of inches in roll)
x
6.125 (Label length + label gap)

____________________________

= 2635 labels

Each roll of ribbon will produce approximately 2600 labels.

3. To calculate the number of ribbons needed for a given quantity of labels, simply divide 2600 into the total number ordered.

Ex: Order for 50,000 4" x 6" labels.

Ex:
50,000
2,600

______________

= 19.23 ribbons

Round up to the next ribbon - 20 ribbons needed
