SUBJECT: Apex II with 512K Flash
COMMUNIQUE: 194
DATE: 05-06 -97
All Apex IIs are currently being shipped with 512K of Flash (increased from 128K). This means that the Apex II now has four times the amount of Flash memory as before.
This improvement provides for -
- Increased program storage from 64K to 128 K
- Increased data file storage from 64K to 128 K.
This improvement has additional benefits for the programmer as well.
- The maximum number of variables has been increased 63% from 500 to 800
- The maximum number of labels has been doubled from 200 to 400
There is no need to modify any of your existing Apex II programs. Your existing programs will run on either the 128K or the 512K versions of the Apex II.
In order to determine the amount of Flash in the Apex II unit the unit will need to be rebooted. Line 3 of the unit will show the amount of Flash that is in the unit (example - Flash = 512K). The operating systems version for the Apex II with 512K of Flash is 2.xxb.
For Apex II with 128K of Flash Memory, a factory upgrade is available. This applies to units with serial number 100001219 and above.
