Compsee "Mobile Enabler" Software

Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQ's)

Q. Will Mobile Enabler run on a Windows 2000 box?
(We would like to put it on a MS SQL Server using this platform)
Mobile Enabler is designed to run as a service in the WinNT or Windows 2000 environment. It is recommended that at a minimum the hardware will meet the following configuration:
  • CPU - Intel Pentium III
  • Processor Speed - 800MHZ
  • Memory - 128MB RAM
  • Hard Drive Space - 10GB
____
Q. What is the underlying database used by Enabler to capture/hold information?
Mobile Enabler uses a Sybase database engine to maintain its configuration data and environment information. By using the ODBC interface that comes standard with the all-current releases of Mobile Enabler, you can use any ODBC compatible database to capture and hold your information.
____
Q. How does the Enabler interface to the AS-400? Do we need to install any code on the AS-400?
No additional software is required for the AS/400. Mobile Enabler uses IBM's PComm Application Package to interface with the application executing on the AS/400. By using Screen and Field references within the HACL API interface we are able to manage application flow to best meet the process being performed by the end user and to complete the functions required on the AS/400. This allows the Mobile Enabler to combine multiple AS/400 screens into one or more Mobile Terminal Screens, thus stream lining the process flow for the end user. No additional software is required for the AS/400, but PComm must be installed somewhere on the network so that Mobile Enabler is able to access it.
