Label Wizard is a powerful and easy to use label design and production
software system designed to support all SATO printers and runs under
Windows 3.1 or Windows 95. It has many advanced features,
like an integrated database program, ODBC/DDE support and a memory
card manager. With the ease of pointing and clicking the mouse,
a first time user can design complex label formats, such as UCC/EAN-128
and MH10.8 shipping formats.
With a large selection of fonts, bar codes and 2-D codes, the
user can design labels quickly and easily to meet the needs of any
application. Formats meeting compliance labeling requirements can
be effortlessly generated and stored for use in production.
Data fields may be defined as fixed or variable for manual input
at the time of printing. With just a few keystrokes you can import
data from your existing database directly into Label Wizard or use
Label Wizard's own integrated database program. For example, users
can print sequential serial numbers along with part numbers and
descriptions from a separate database.
Any graphics .PCX, .BMP, or .WMF files from popular paint programs,
scanners or clip-art libraries can be easily placed and sized to
create professional looking custom labels. Add your company logo
to enhance the product marketing value with each label.
Label Wizard Specifications
Text:
All printer resident fonts plus TrueType fonts can be expanded
and printed. Text can be automatically center, left or right justified
in a field. TrueType fonts can be rotated in 1º increments
and printer resident fonts can be rotated in 90° steps.
Bar Codes:
Bar codes can be printed with 3:1, 2:1 or 5:2 ratios at user selectable
densities and heights and printed in a normal orientation or rotated
90°. 2-D bar codes can be printed using the printer internal
2-D fonts or as graphics. Human readable interpretation (HRI) text
is automatically created and positioned or can be manually placed
as a separate text field. Check digits can be automatically generated
as part of the bar code data sent to the printer.
Variable Data:
Incrementing/decrementing or sequentially numbered variable data
fields can be created by combining or joining other variables. Mathematical
functions can used to modify the variable data and special check
digit calculations can be defined.
Time/Date Stamping:
Time/Date stamped fields can be automatically created using the
system clock when the job is created or at the time labels are printed
using the printer clock. Date addition functions allow creation
of "Best By" fields.
Data Bases:
External data bases can be used to generate variable data fields.
Dbase IV, Paradox, Clipper or Delimited ASCII files are supported.
Other databases can be accessed using the ODBC capabilities. An
integrated database program is also provided for creating and editing
database files.
Graphics:
.PCX, .BMP and .WMF graphic files can be imported, resized and rotated.
Label Formats:
Label formats can be stored for future used or used as a basis
for creating standard templates. The number of formats stored is
limited only by the system storage capacity. Formats can be downloaded
to the Label Wizard Hand-Held Print Controller or to PCMCIA memory
cards in the printer.
Lines and Boxes:
Line thickness from 1 to 99 dots may be specified and placed anywhere
on a label. Reverse images can be used to highlight important fields.
Label Production:
Variable data can be entered at the time of printing using prompted
variables or automatically using a file containing a label production
schedule previously defined by another application. Production logs
can be used to record the label name, description, number of labels
needed, number of labels printed, stock code and date/time of printing.
Memory Card Support:
The optional PCMCIA memory cards used by most SATO printers can
be accessed and used to store graphic, TrueType fonts or label
formats. This can speed up the print process by eliminating the
need to transmit large graphic and text files to the printer.
Security:
Optional passwords can be used to specify and limit user access.
Printing:
Label print jobs can be repositioned in the queue or deleted using
Windows Print Manager.
Host System Requirements:
IBM 386 PC or compatible running Windows 3.1 or Windows 95
with a system memory of 8MB, a minimum of 20MB hard disk space,
a 1.44MB floppy disk drive and a color or monochrome VGA monitor.
A mouse or similar pointing device is not required but recommended.
