ROYAL COLLECTION WARSAW

Royal Collection Warsaw is an exclusive clothes store with 11 shops in all of the large Polish cities. The company makes extensive use of automatic identification systems, throughout its network of stores.

In 1997, the company implemented its first automatic identification system. The original objectives of introducing the new system, included managing the sale and Just In Time (JIT) delivery of stock, in order to minimize inventory holdings.

The system was able to report the sale; control the flow of stock between the stores; and manage reporting of the structure and volume of sales and stocks. The system automatically generates orders on the basis of stock levels.

At the start of the project, all of the clothes in each of the Royal Collection Warsaw stores had to be labeled with bar codes. SKK provided label printers, portable data terminals, as well as Welch Allyn ST5400 scanners. The users found that the equipment was easy to handle and operate.

All goods received into the distribution center are barcoded, before being delivered to the stores. In order to make shopping easier for customers, SKK designed perforated tags, which divide into two halves. On each half there is the product name and barcode identifying the product. Having decided to buy an item, the customer tears off half of the tag and takes it to the counter. The bar code is then read with the Welch Allyn ST5400 scanner. The captured information is recorded, so that Royal Collection has a real-time picture of stock movements.

In addition to the customer service benefits of this system, it also allows Royal Collection to easily adhere to government legislation concerning consumer information. Clothing tags in Poland must give specific information about the material it is made from, size, how it should be washed and so forth.

The system helps Royal Collection achieve rapid customer service, efficient management of stock levels between the main distribution center and the stores and accurate order fulfillment.

Royal Collection has been very satisfied with the installation and subsequently implemented a network structure working on-line in all the shops. This solution was implemented in Royal Collection. Now each store has its own server, complete with the logistics software.
