KEYBOARD WEDGE
A device which plugs directly between the terminal
keyboard and display - bar code, magnetic stripe and/or ASCII
data input via the wedge emulates and complements keyboard entry
into the user present software.
Compsees line of keyboard wedges provides the user
the easiest and fastest way to implement a bar code system. When
added to existing terminals and applications software, both the
speed and accuracy of data input is greatly improved.
We have learned through our years (20+) of installing keyboard
wedges, the varied requirements of the user, and in turn design
and manufacture the most versatile wedges on the market. With
the primary goal of reducing and, in some cases, eliminating operator
key entry, numerous features have been designed into the wedge
products.

WEDGE PROGRAM PARAMETERS
Through wedge programming the user has the ability to validate data input
and define the output format for the data.
PROGRAM MODES
Default All Reset to Factory Defaults
Bar Code Menu Program by scanning individual bar codes for
menu selection
Bar Code Batch Combine multiple program selections into one
bar code for program scanning. (TurboWedge Only)
Serial Batch Program selections are communicated to the
unit via the RS 232 Port. (TurboWedge Only)
On-Screen For PC's only. Menus are displayed on the
screen and selections made and transmitted
via the keyboard with the unit attached
as a keyboard wedge. (TurboWedge Only)
AutoCape / WinCape PC Based Program
WinCape = TurboWedge Only
Wedge Clone Copy the program from one wedge to another.
Symbology Validation Program the unit to read only specific bar code
types and lengths. (TurboWedge Only)
GENERAL PARAMETERS
Terminal Type Configure the wedge for the terminal
it is attached to
Keyboard Type Define the type of keyboard on
the terminal
Typewriter vs Data Entry
122 Keys vs 102 Keys
Caps Lock On vs Caps Lock Off
Telephone vs Calculator
Foreign Keyboards Sets the keyboard to one of the
following: US, Belgium, Finland, Norway,
Sweden, France, Germany, Italy, UK,
Switzerland.
Numeric Keypad Sets the unit to output the key
signals from the numeric keypad versus the
numeric keys above the alpha keyboard.
Buffer Enable If on, the rolling buffer lets the
user scan "ahead" of the output
Beeper Volume Sets the volume and tone of the
audible beep emitted after a bar code
is read
Mag Track Select Set for the mag track to be read
Single Track 1, 2 or 3
Dual Tracks 1 & 2, 1 & 3 or 2 & 3
Triple Tracks 1, 2 and 3
(Track 3 is only valid using the TurboWedge)
Solicit Record Define the record used for transmit
to activate scale input
Intercharacter Delay Sets a delay between transmitted
characters
Interfunction Delay Sets a delay after the transmission
of a keyboard function
(Enter, TAB, etc.)
BAR CODE INPUT PARAMETERS
Preamble Define from 1to 16 Characters or
Functions to precede each code
scanned
Postamble Define from 1to 16 Characters or
Functions to follow each code
scanned
Embedded Function Code Turn ON if keyboard functions are
embedded in the bar code
Code Identification Outputs a symbology identification
code prior to each bar code scanned
Redundancy Requires 2 identical reads of the
same bar code for a "good read"
AutoScan Enables the attached laser to read
every "x" numer of seconds.
(TurboWedge Only)
MultiScan Enables the attached laser to stay
on as long as bar codes are
being read (TurboWedge Only)
Code Enable/Disable Turn on or off specific bar codes
Code Length Define the minimum and maximum
length for a valid bar code
Check Digit Checks Turn on check digit calculation
of a specific code
Start/Stop Transmit Output the start and stop characters
or digits for a specific code
Check Digit Transmit Transmit, along with the bar code
the check digit character
UPC - Code ID Transmit Transmit the UPC code identifier
