VRC 4040 Vehicle Radio Computer

Ruggedized Touch Screen Computers for Vehicle-Mount or Fixed-Mount Applications

Symbol's VRC 4000 Vehicle Radio Computers are rugged, touch screen, PC-compatible computers that provide advanced processing capability while withstanding physical shock and vibration. Available in fixed-station wall mount or wireless vehicle-mount configurations, the integrated touch screen supports menu-driven, touch-based user access. These versatile systems support diverse information management and data tracking applications in harsh environments.

Utilizing advanced screen graphics, user-friendly touch-based operator interfaces, and bar code scanning technologies, the VRC 4000 Series serves as the foundation for advanced logistics applications.

Features include:

  • A large, easy-to-read intelligent graphics display. Screen presentations are flexible and easily changed. Color LCD option is also available for applications utilizing more complex graphics.
  • A touch screen operator interface that eliminates keyboard data entry and allows both gloved and ungloved operations.
  • Industry standard PC-compatible architecture for increased flexibility and ease of application development.
  • Versatile, comprehensive freight management functions are sup-ported right at the dock door-including load tallies, overages, shortages and damages logs, and trailer closings.

Fixed-Mount or Vehicle-Mount to Suit Your Application Environment

From cross-dock to forklift to yard management, the VRC 4000 Series has the versatility to address your application environment:

  • When mounted on a wall, it is ideal for typical cross-dock applications. VRC 4000 receives power from a standard 110V AC outlet, and provides connectivity with a Token Ring or Ethernet local area network or a Symbol Technologies Spectrum24® wireless LAN.
  • The VRC 4000 can also be used for wireless mobile-mount applications. It mounts directly on a wide variety of industrial vehicles, including forklift trucks, hostlers and motorized pallets. This mobile unit receives power from the vehicle's battery and uses radio frequency technology to communicate to a Symbol Spectrum24® wireless LAN.
Open system architecture also ensures that the VRC 4000 Series can readily adapt to changing application requirements. And when combined with Symbol's Spectrum24® wireless LAN, real-time tracking data is available as freight moves through cross-dock operations. The system, in concert with central dispatch services, prevents misloads and overloads, facilitates paperless office and dock operations, maximizes dock door utilization and provides automatic production measurements.
