      As the year 2000 approaches, we at Compsee are taking proactive steps to ensure that you, the customer, can rest assured that our hardware and software products will be Year 2000 compliant.

      In reference to the MEQ range of Products and its' operating software, they are year 2000 compliant and will continue normal operation after the arrival of the year 2000.

      However, it is important that any specific application software that is being run on the MEQ be screened for the same year 2000 compliance.

      For third party software applications being used in conjunction with the MEQ, Compsee and Mars Electronics will not be responsible for their compliance with the year 2000.

      After being set, the MEQ Data Collection Terminals will maintain current date and time information in the following format:

      Date = YY/MM/DD whereYY = last 2 digits of the year
      MM= month (01 for January)
      DD = day
      Time = HH:MM:SS whereHH = hour (from 0 to 23)
      MM = minutes
      SS = seconds

      Just prior to the year 2000, the MEQ terminal will show 99/12/31 and a time of 23:59:50, After 10 seconds, the MEQ will roll to date 00/01/01 and a time of 00:00:00 welcoming in the next millennium.

      The MEQ will also make adjustments to the date for leap years. The first leap year of the next millennium is in the year 2000, The MEQ will roll from the date 00/02/28 to 00/02/29 and the time of 00:00:00. The MEQ will then transition from 00/02/29 to 00/03/01 and the time of 00:00:00.

      It should be noted that the MEQ year code is two digits and not four. Some software programs use a four digit year code. If four digits are required, special programming will be required to convert the current MEQ two year code. Contact your VAR or programmer to determine if this will be required.

      For any MEQ 400 units, please provide the serial number of your unt to assure Y2K compliance. This information should be given to Technical Support at the number written below.

      The MEQ 1260 Communications Node is not effected by dates and therefore Y2K compliance is not an issue.
