The above mentioned QUICK CHECK® Bar Code Verifier has been manufactured, calibrated and tested to conform with the specifications found in the following standards:

As part of this process calibration standards produced by Applied Image and traceable to the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) have been used.

Initial optical and reflectance calibration is performed at the time of manufacture of this instrument. As with all precision electro-optical reflectance measuring devices, periodic re-calibration may be necessary. Reflectance re-calibration is only necessary when the device has had a new wand scanner installed, the batteries have been removed/exchanged, the unit detects during its auto-test at start up that the scanner has degraded or the unit has lost part of it's calibration information which is stored in non-volatile memory. In each of these cases the unit can be re-calibrated by the user and will prompt the user to recalibrate (using the supplied QCRF - Reflectance Calibration Patch or QCRFPG - Reflectance Calibration Page).

Note that the user can set more stringent or frequent reflectance re-calibration requirements to suit their internal quality control procedures and philosophy. As a suggestion, if the unit is used daily (eight hours per day), daily re-calibration would be recommended. If used only a few times a week, re-calibration at the time of the use would not be detrimental. Re-calibration takes less than 60 seconds.

Full re-certification of the verifier can be performed by contacting PSC's Service organization at Tel: #716-265-1600 (#800-828-6489) or your nearest PSC Dealer or Subsidiary. PSC recommends full re-certification annually or as required by your internal quality and conformance procedures.

ISO/IEC Reflectance and Dimensional Measurement Parameters
Quick Check® Verifiers meet or exceed all of the conformance criteria found in International standard ISO/IEC 15426 Bar code verifier conformance specification - Part 1 Linear, when used for measuring and reporting the bar code quality criteria found in International standard ISO/IEC 15416 Bar code print quality test specification following the manufacturer's recommendations for use and operation.

Additionally, controlled tests have found the following to be reliable reflectance variability values:

Accuracy:	(Rmax) ± 5.0% (to a known sample)
	(Rmin) ± 3.0% (to a known sample)
Repeatability:	± 3.0% (within one unit, tested on a known sample)

Traditional Average Bar / Space Measurements
The QUICK CHECK® detects errors in bar code printing (uniform bar growth or shrinkage) to a precision of +/- 3.0% of the nominal narrow bar size or +/- 0.0005", whichever is greater.

Calibration / Standards Measurement
For conformance and traceability purposes Quick Check® Bar Code Verifiers are designed, set up and tested using the following calibrated standard test pieces.

Calibration and traceability certificates are available for the PSC QCRF and QCRFPG supplied with your verifier by contacting PSC Customer Administration or your nearest PSC Dealer or Subsidiary. All of the above test items are manufactured by Applied Image Inc. (1653 East Main Street, Rochester NY 14609 TEL: 716-482-0300, FAX: 716-288-5989) and are manufactured and inspected on equipment calibrated with techniques, processes and standards traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology U.S.A.

The above mentioned QUICK CHECK® Bar Code Verifier accessory has been manufactured, calibrated and tested by a National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) certified laboratory (Applied Image, Inc., 1653 East Main Street, Rochester, New York 14609 USA) in conformance with specifications provided by PSC Inc.

Initial calibration was performed at the time of manufacture. Due to the nature of use and the base material of this item, repeated use will degrade its quality.

It is recommended the reflection calibration standard page (QCRFPG) be kept in a clean, dark, moisture free location when not in use and the reflectance standard (QCRF and QCRFPG) should be replaced annually. Either standard (QCRF or QCRFPG) should be replaced as soon as any evidence of surface deterioration is visually detected or if the Quick Check it is used with fails to accept it for calibration.
