Product Positioning Statement For retailers, office, health-care and non- industrial users who require a low cost handheld or fixed laser scanner for point-of-sale, the QS1000 is PSC�s lowest-priced laser scanner. While providing the superior performance of a hand held laser, the QS1000 is triggerless, and is optimized for use in a stand. The QS1000 features a sleek, ergonomically friendly design and a snappy wake-up mode that allows the scanner to read quickly.

General Description

With its sleek triggerless design, the QS1000 laser handheld bar code reader is designed as an affordable data collection device that meets the data collection needs of retailers, health care professionals, banks, insurance companies and light industrial users. The QS1000 fits comfortably in applications where a hand held scanner is needed along with fixed scanning applications, utilizing the optional hands-free stand.

The QS1000 features the QS6000 Plus architecture, which includes the new LM500 Plus scan module. This new module offers a greater depth of field and an optional 650nm laser diode that produces a bright scan beam that can be read in bright light applications, such as greenhouse environments.

QS1000�s triggerless mode is made possible by PSC�s new LaserSense™ technology. LaserSense™ provides a marker beam, as well as the mechanism to sense a bar code, along the entire working depth of the laser beam.

The QS1000 is a flexible solution, offering the ability to read all major retail and industrial bar code symbologies and autodiscriminate any four at a time.

Featuring both single and dual interfaces, the QS1000 provides superior adaptability to many applications, going from the POS to a PDT for inventory, for example. To change the interface is as easy as changing the cable.

The cables for the QS1000 are the same used on the QS6000, QS6000 Plus and PowerScan, which translates into fewer cables to be stocked. These cables are very durable, with superior abrasion and chemical resistance, lasting over 250,000-90� bends.

Countertop Stand

The optional Countertop Stand is designed to make the QS1000 the perfect

low cost fixed scanning solution.

Engineered to fit the QS1000 like a glove, it also allows for quick removal and replacement of the QS1000 for hand held use.

The base is narrow enough (under 4", 10 cm) to use counterspace effectively, but also has four mounting holes to allow for permanent mounting.

The Flexible Gooseneck and scanner platform allows the operator to modify the scanner positioning for maximum scan/read effectiveness and ergonomic comfort. Combined with the QS1000�s LaserSense™ technology, the Countertop Stand assures maximized productivity in the applications where it is most needed.

LaserSense™

LaserSense™ is PSC�s new read technology that detects movement at the laser point. It provides a defined marker beam that allows the user to place labels anywhere within the laser�s depth-of-field to be read. The LaserSense™ technology is integral to the laser scanner, so no additional hardware is needed to �sense� the presence of a label. When located in the optional countertop stand, the QuickScan 1000 uses LaserSense™ to automatically trigger a read.
