Product Overview
Overview
The VS1000 was designed to maximize throughput in presentation
scanning environments, such as in drug, pharmacy, specialty, department
and convenience stores.
Prior to this, horizontal scanners have been "adapted" to fit
vertical installations with only reasonable success. Scan
patterns designed for horizontal scanners provided a small scan
volume and could not scan labels presented with large degrees
of yaw (amount label rotated from a parallel orientation to the
scanner window).
The VS1000 is the highest performance, compact vertical presentation
scanner available on the market today.
Performance
The VS1000 outperforms all competitive scanners offered
today. The combination of a specifically designed vertical sweep
scan pattern which allows �110 degrees of label yaw, 5 in. (12.73
cm) depth-of-field, and a 6 in. (15.2 cm) read height give the
VS1000 unparalleled performance in drug, discount and pharmacy
type environments.
Adaptive decoding software enables the VS1000 to read poorly
printed (overprinted or underprinted) labels or marginless
bar codes which many other scanners cannot read. The Adaptive
decode software comes standard on the VS1000 - a performance
package which usually costs much more on competitive scanners.
Compact Size
The VS1000 comes in a small .0027 cubic meter (168 cubic inch)
package, which provides greater mounting flexibility for the end
user. Also, the front window is masked to identify where
the user is to present the product for scanning.
The VS1000 is designed with integrated mounting alternatives:
. Rubber feet that allow it to be simply placed on the
counter (not recommended)
. An integrated mount which provides more secure mounting
with screws on either a horizontal counter or vertical wall
surface. The integrated mount also acts as a cover for
the I/O connector area. This provides a finished look in
environments where the scanner is mounted in such a way that customers
can view the back of the scanner.

Changeable outer glass for rugged environments and the option
of scratch resistant, tin oxide coated glass.
External volume and wake up switch for operator convenience.
Sleep mode which turns off the visible laser diode and/or
the motor, at customer specified intervals, for increased
reliability and reduced operating costs.
Adaptive enhanced decode software standard at no extra charge.
Integrated mount for vertical or horizontal mounting. Installation
does not require major counter modifications
Built-in diagnostics provide for 98% accurate isolation of
Field Replaceable Units and the modular design enables quick
and easy replacement of any failed Field Replaceable Unit.
