Introducing VS1201

Overview

This release bulletin introduces the VS1201 - a VS1200 version supporting Add-on codes. When an application calls for a scanner to read and transmit add-on codes, we now have the capability in the fixed, and medium to high-end marketplace with the VS1200, as well as with the VS1000, and Magellan SL scanners.

Label Scanning Features

The VS1201 is capable of recognizing, dependent on configuration, the following symbologies:

With Edge™ decoding software enabled, VS1201 can read UPC/EAN Supplemental P2 and P5 Add-ons, and EAN/JAN Two-Label Pairs.

With Adaptive™ decoding enabled, VS1201 can read UPC/EAN plus any of following industrial symbologies -- Supplemental Code 128 Add-ons, Code 128, Code 3 of 9, Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF).

Coupon Gating

Some UPC-A, EAN-8, and EAN-13 labels are designated as being coupon labels. The add-on segment of these labels, if present, can be sent or not sent to the POS host - this is a factory option. This configuration tag item will be disabled when the scanner leaves the factory.
